A long workday can pass with almost no change of position. Brief breaks are a convenient way to interrupt that pattern.
Stand between tasks, walk to get water or have a short conversation standing if comfortable. A break does not need to become a workout.
If you have pain, consider your workstation as well as how often you stand. Persistent symptoms, numbness or weakness deserve assessment.
